BG MATTHEW JAMES

Strategic AdvisorMatthew James is a Brigadier General in the United States Army. He has commanded at the company thru brigade levels. He has multiple deployments and has commanded three separate infantry companies in combat. Matt holds a Bachelor of Arts and Masters degree from the University of Washington and a Master of Strategic Studies from the US Army War College. His awards include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal for Valor, Purple Heart, Army Commendation Medal for Valor, the Valorous Unit Award, and the Combat Infantryman Badge.

COL WILLIAM REEDER

Strategic AdvisorCOL (Ret.) Dr. William (Bill) Reeder is a legendary aviator whose 30-year career included two combat tours in Vietnam flying armed OV-1 Mohawk reconnaissance airplanes and AH-1 Cobra attack helicopters. On May 9, 1972, he was leading a team of AH-1 Cobras when he was shot down, severely wounded, captured, and eventually spent nearly a year as a POW. His awards include the Silver Star, two Distinguished Flying Crosses, three Purple Hearts, and the Valorous Unit Award. He was named Army Aviator of the Year in 1977 and inducted into the Army Aviation Hall of Fame in 2014.

CSM JEFF HUGGINS

Strategic AdvisorCommand Sergeant Major (Ret.) Jeff Huggins began his Army career in 1986 as an unassigned Airborne Ranger, ultimately serving more than three decades in some of the U.S. Army’s most elite and demanding leadership positions. He held roles from rifleman to sniper team leader in 2nd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment and participated in key operations including Just Cause and Uphold Democracy.A proven combat leader, Jeff was the Command Sergeant Major of 5-20 Infantry, 3rd SBCT, 2ID during the Iraq War’s pivotal 2006–2008 troop surge, where he led Soldiers through intense combat in Mosul, Baghdad, and the decisive Battle for Baqubah. He later served as Brigade CSM for the 4th SBCT, 2ID during Operation Iraqi Freedom 09–10, culminating in “The Last Patrol,” a 350-mile combat movement to Kuwait that marked the end of U.S. combat operations in Iraq.

Dr. John Bolton

History AdvisorLieutenant Colonel John Bolton, PhD, is an assistant professor at the United States Army’s School of Advanced Military Studies (SAMS). He completed his doctoral studies at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS). A Mandarin speaker and a graduate of the Army Command and General Staff College’s Art of War Scholars Program, he also holds degrees in military history and mechanical engineering. He has deployed multiple times with Engineer, Infantry, and Aviation units. He is an AH-64D/E aviator with over 2,000 flight hours, including 800 in combat. During the “Battle of Baqubah” and the “Surge” in Iraq (2006-2007) he served as a route clearance platoon leader before transferring to Army Aviation.

Marty Motes

Healing AdvisorMarty Motes served as a United States Marine from 1991 until 1997 and then in the US Army from 1997 until his retirement at the rank of Staff Sergeant in 2011. Marty has a BS in Information Systems Technology, a graduate certificate in Cybersecurity, and a Masters Degree in Social Work with a focus in Military Mental Health. He is currently a clinical social worker, working with geriatric patients dealing with addiction disorders, cognitive behavioral disorders and various psychosis diagnosis. Marty is supported daily by his wife who is a registered nurse and his son and four daughters. He currently lives in the Alexandria, LA area with his wife, his service dog Ben and 3 great danes, Phineas, Ferb and Candice.

Jocelyn Pijpaert, PhD, MFT

Healing AdvisorDr. Jocelyn Pijpaert has served as an Army Brat, Spouse, and Civilian for over 40 years. She began her journey in Heidelberg, Germany and split her formative years between Germany, Georgia, and Hawaii. Professionally she is a small business owner, an HR Director, and a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist. She has earned a BS in Business Administration, an MA in Counseling & Psychology, and a PhD in Couples & Family Therapy. She is also a graduate of the Army’s Chaplain Family Life Training Center. Supporting military couples and families is her passion. Experiences with trauma, TBI, PTSD, and depression, personally and as a clinician, have deepened her empathy for this community. Dr. Pijpaert is married with four children.
